Hearst is situated in the northern part of the region and boasts plenty of different outdoor activities. Hunting, fishing, watersports, snowsports, and snowmobiling are very popular here and this is why:

Hunting and Fishing Packages Available

Our outfitters have been providing excellent fly-in fishing and hunting experiences for almost 3 decades. Explore pristine lakes and rivers, discover remote camps or simply indulge in the scenery with our team of experienced hunters and anglers. Walleye, pike, brook trout, trophy bull moose and more await you in the Hearst area.

Canoeing on the Missinaibi River, Mattice

The Missinaibi River is the longest Canadian Heritage River in Ontario. It spans 426km from Missinaibi Lake to the confluence with the Moose River in the James Bay Lowlands. Unspoiled scenic beauty and varied natural heritage make it the ideal short or extended wilderness canoeing and camping experience. We like to call it the “Nahanni” of Ontario. Experienced guides are available on a 24 hour notice for 1 to 3 day trips. Longer expeditions, 5-10-15-30 days should be planned, preferably one month or more ahead of time. Partial or fully outfitted. Talk to the experts and they will tailor your experience on this unique river.

Access to Top A Snowmobile trails, Northern Corridor (District 15)

The Hearst area is a paradise for snowmobilers with a network of over 1000 kilometers of wide and soft trails through beautiful wooded areas. These trails have been described as some of the best in the world. There are many loops of various distances and also many possibilities for off-trail adventure. Snowmobilers in Hearst can ride along the downtown streets and can park their machines right outside their motel room door. 1-800-655-5769 for trail conditions and information.

Hearst Cross Country Ski Club

Over 28 km of nature, pure and simple. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, equipment rental available.
