Welcome to the true north of Ontario. The James Bay area of Ontario, Canada. An experience of uniqueness and adventure. These communities on the shores of the Moose River and James Bay are actually at the southernmost tip of the Arctic Ocean. Visitors to this area will experience a side of life rarely seen in the rest of Canada. These tiny communities provide service to the railway as well as being the main jumping off point to the coastal communities along James Bay.
Moosonee offers an experience of a lifetime. How do you get here you ask? Flying, train, or a very long but great canoeing experience up the river near Cochrane, Ontario. See real polar bears in their existing habitat.
Ontario Northland’s Polar Bear Express Train offers regular service between Cochrane and Moosonee but with a twist. It is one of the last flag-stop trains in operation anywhere. That means that trappers, prospectors and even hikers and canoe trippers can have the train drop them off or pick them up at points along the way. The service is popular with travelers who like to do things a little differently.
We promise you will experience something different and exciting!
