The City of Temiskaming Shores is bustling community composed of the three former municipalities of Haileybury, New Liskeard and Dymond. The City is located at the head of beautiful Lake Temiskaming that stretches over 100 kilometres south before becoming the Ottawa River. The City is the service and commercial hub of a large agricultural, forestry and mining region.

There are several excellent hotels, restaurants, resorts and lodges to look after all the needs of the traveler. The community offers the typical friendly attitude so common to northerners along with plenty of activities for those with a love for the outdoors, yet provides all the amenities expected from much larger cities.

Because the community offers such a great lifestyle with many properties boasting views of Lake Temiskaming, the community has been deemed a great prospect for retirement living. Amenities such as a full service hospital, shopping, golfing and hiking trails just make the community more attractive.

The community hosts many festivals and events throughout the year. One of the most popular is the Bikers Reunion, held each year over the Canada Day weekend. The event brings the community together for music, food and fun when more than four thousand motorcycle enthusiasts roar into town for a few days of fun, relaxation and fundraisers in support of local cancer care.

Haileybury was home to Leslie MacFarlane, ghostwriter of the Hardy Boys adventure series, he wrote several of the books while living there. A self guided walking tour takes you around the community to show some of the homes that Mr. McFarlane lived in and the offices he worked from as well as sights mentioned in the books.

The sun shines most of the time over this part of the North, but even when its gets cold, there is still so much to do and enjoy. Snowmobiling is a huge and popular way of life in the North. It is evident in Temiskaming Shores where the local snowmobile club maintains more than 300 kilometres of groomed trails. In addition, there are both alpine and cross country ski trails as well as many areas to snowshoe in the wilderness.
