The fishing is second to none in the Moosonee area. Guides can be hired for half or full days from the water taxi dock located in front of the lodge. Here you can join the guides on a fishing adventure like no other – searching for Walleye, Trout, Trophy Pike, Whitefish and Sturgeon.

Paddling the Moose River

Polar Bear Lodge can be your drop off point to a great paddling excursion on the Moose River and other nearby streams. Start out in Cochrane where you can take the train up to Moosonee where you will stay at the Polar Bear Lodge. From there, gather up your gear and head out on the River for the next few days. Be sure to pack smart.

If you are the adventurous type, skip the train and paddle your way up the Moose River until you hit the James Bay lowlands of Moosonee.

Snowmobile Adventures

Polar Bear Lodge also caters to many snowmobiler’s wanting to get a taste of what the lowlands are in the winter. The Moosonee area is a great place for snowmobiling, white crisp powdered snow and many great amenities guaranteed to satisfy each rider’s needs
